Romanian country cottage holidays Transylvania
Casa Nicu, a venerable centenarian among our rustic dwellings, has weathered 120 years with stoic indifference to the evolving systems in Romania and beyond. In transforming it into a vacation retreat, we preserved its original essence, allowing the whispers of bygone eras to linger within its steadfast walls.
Nestled in the idyllic village of Vale, at the base of the Carpathian Mountains and a stone’s throw from Sibiu, this farmhouse beckons to discerning gourmands seeking to infuse their journey with a touch of Romanian heritage. An ideal sanctuary for alleviating the stress hormones and adrenaline of contemporary life, Casa Nicu is also a picturesque haven for solo adventurers and couples embarking on a Transylvanian holiday.
Ascending a staircase, the living quarters of the farmhouse unfold on the upper level. The pathway leads to a hallway seamlessly integrated into the house in the distinctive local fashion. Accessible through this corridor are both the compact 2-square-meter shower room and the inviting 14 (sqm) eat-in kitchen.
The kitchen stands fully equipped for those embracing self-catering, featuring amenities such as a refrigerator, gas stove, coffee maker, espresso machine, kettle, toaster, an assortment of spices, and even a washing machine. For those inclined towards savouring traditional fare, our skilled cook is at your service, presenting freshly prepared meals directly to your table.
The adjoining bedroom, spanning 18 (sqm), seamlessly connects to the eat-in kitchen. Within this cozy space, you’ll find a comfortable double bed, a television set with Astra Satellite channels, WiFi internet access, and a touch of greenery with carefully placed plants. Three windows open up to the charming view of the village church.
Upon your arrival, the bed will be freshly made, and essentials such as towels, shower gel, and soap are thoughtfully provided. For additional guests, an extra bed for a third person and a crib for your baby are readily available.
The interior of the cottage has been meticulously curated, showcasing a refurbished old tiled stove in the kitchen. In keeping with the local style, the stove incorporates built-in water pipes in the upper part of the firing chamber. These pipes, aside from radiating heat, efficiently warm the radiators in the rooms and the bathroom. In the event of non-use or if the fire subsides, a gas boiler will automatically kick in, ensuring a consistent and comfortable environment.
