Our latest jewel — A farm for groups and the whole family

Casa Rico is our recent milestone, ideal for family holidays and groups. The former farmhouse is located in the hills above the shepherd's village of Vale, with a view of the wooded mountains and down onto the Transylvanian plain. We accommodate up to 8 (or even 10) people here.
The property consists of a 142-year-old, fully renovated wooden house (2 double rooms) and an equally renovated brick house (another 2 double rooms). Between them you'll find a cosy courtyard, partially covered by grapevines, with a south-facing terrace, summer kitchen and shower.

The special atmosphere can be felt in every corner. With patience and a keen eye for detail, we have awakened hidden treasures from their decades-long slumber and carefully added modern design elements. Now, this cottage is well suited for families with children on their holiday in Romania. And it's great choice for anyone who prefers the taste of tradition and lifestyle of bygone times, rather than splashing around in the chlorinated pool of a 5-star hotel.

You enter the old farmhouse via the external hallway and reach the spacious living room with open kitchen, tiled stove and seating for up to 10 people. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a fridge-freezer, electric cooker, dishwasher, kettle, espresso/coffee machine, toaster and plenty of crockery, spices, soaps, etc. Two dormer windows provide the living room with light and morning sunshine from above.
On the south-facing terrace in the courtyard, we have built a second kitchenette, which is also fully equipped, but with a gas hob and no fridge. It is based on the traditional way of life in Transylvania, where summer life and work mostly take place outdoors. The second bathroom, located right next to the terrace, follows the same idea.
All four bedrooms feature double beds, antique wardrobes, tables and stools. The larger room in the brick house offers a corner bench for playing games on rainy days. This house also has a new shower room and a kitchen with a small fridge, but no cooking facilities. In summer it is empty – so you have several cupboards and wall units for your food supplies – and in winter we will move the dishes and cutlery from the summer kitchen over here.
From the outer hallway, a staircase leads to the rustic attic. Here you can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the impressive view of the village and the surrounding mountains bathed in sunshine.

Fast WiFi is available throughout the courtyard via fibre optic cable, and each room has an LED TV with cable and satellite connection for receiving public and private German channels. Upon arrival, you will find the beds freshly made and bath, hand and kitchen towels provided.
Hot water is generated by a solar system, and heating is provided by a gas boiler in conjunction with a tiled stove, which supplies a buffer tank via built-in water pipes and, through this, all radiators in the house. The interaction runs automatically. All you have to do is set the desired temperature on a room thermostat and you don't have to worry about anything else. Firewood is included.

We offer more than just accommodation

On request, our cook provides breakfast or swings the wooden spoon. She conjures traditional menus fresh to the table. Also available are farm products from the village, such as fresh milk, goat or sheep’s cheese, eggs, forest honey and homemade jam, zakusca, pickled vegetables, wine, schnaps and cranberry liqueur.
Last not least, transfer from Sibiu airport or railway station is included, and upon request we’ll provide you with a reliable rental car.
